Why do people fall in love with Scotland?

In particular, Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire!

Where do I start?!

I believe it’s the people and history that make Scotland feel like it does today. Of course, we have the beauty of the landscapes, the rich culture and traditions, the amazing castles and architecture, but it is the friendliness of the folk and the passions we have to make Scotland a vibrant, unique and welcoming place. It must be one of the most welcoming countries in the world!

People come to Scotland for all different reasons. Alot come to the North-East of Scotland for work, particularly to carve out a career in the oil and gas industry or renewables industry. They say they’re coming for a few months, but end up staying a lifetime! It doesn’t surprise me! They love the slower pace of life up here in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire; the outdoor lifestyle; the real winters; the amazing food; the real whisky made on our doorstep; the music; the Doric language; the wildlife, the list goes on and on!

Amazing Aberdeenshire!

Born and bred in the Highlands of Scotland, moving to Aberdeen 25 years ago was very easy for me as I love the outdoors, nature, mountains, castles, and good local food and so my Highland Journeys Tour Company began!. I am very passionate about this unique corner of Scotland and I hope you can join me in 2026 to peel back the layers of history and enjoy the beauty and hidden gems of this wonderful place!
