My "Green" Credentials

Exciting News!

Exciting News for Highland Journeys!

I am absolutely thrilled to share the ongoing story of my sustainability journey with Highland Journeys. I have always been a deeply "green" person at heart, and as a tour guide who spends every day exploring the pristine beauty of the Scottish Highlands, protecting this landscape is incredibly important to me. Now, I am so proud to officially promote Highland Journeys as a sustainable, responsible tourism business.

Education and the Green Tourism Scheme My journey really accelerated when I undertook and passed a Postgraduate Short Course on Sustainable Tourism at Napier University in Edinburgh, where I was delighted to graduate with Distinction.

Shortly after, I was selected to work alongside Visit Aberdeenshire and the Green Tourism Award Scheme. When I began this process, my goal was to achieve my Bronze Award. However, through hard work, a commitment to eco-friendly practices, and a deep love for our environment, I am incredibly proud to say that Highland Journeys is now a Green Tourism Gold Award winner!

What Does This Mean For Your Tour? Achieving this Gold Award isn't just a badge on the website; it directly impacts the quality and ethos of the private tours I offer. When you book a bespoke Scottish vacation or day trip with me, you can rest assured that:

  • We Support Local: We prioritize stopping at independent, ethically run local cafes and restaurants to support the Highland economy.

  • We Protect the Landscape: We follow strict "leave no trace" principles, ensuring our beautiful glens, coastlines, and wildlife habitats remain undisturbed for future generations.

  • We Reduce Our Footprint: From optimizing our driving routes to actively reducing waste, every tour is designed to be as eco-conscious as possible.

I am fully committed to a green future for my business, and I absolutely cannot wait to share my knowledge, passion, and this beautiful country with you.
